Couples & Relationship Therapy

How do we know if we need couples therapy and how can it help?

Here are some signs that you may benefit from couples therapy:

  1. Communication difficulties: If you and your partner are having trouble communicating effectively or resolving conflicts, it may be a sign that couples therapy could be helpful.

  2. Decreased intimacy: If you feel that your physical and emotional intimacy has decreased, couples therapy can help you work through these issues and improve your relationship.

  3. Repeated conflicts: If you find that you and your partner are having the same arguments repeatedly without resolution, couples therapy can help you find a way to move past these conflicts.

  4. Decreased satisfaction: If you feel that your overall satisfaction in the relationship has decreased, couples therapy can help you identify the underlying issues and find ways to improve the relationship.

  5. Infidelity: If infidelity has impacted your relationship, couples therapy can help you both work through the betrayal and find a way to rebuild trust.

  6. Life changes: If major life changes, such as the arrival of a new baby or a change in job circumstances, have impacted your relationship, couples therapy can provide support and guidance in navigating these changes.

There is a lot of stigma surrounding therapy - especially couples therapy.  We often hear our clients ask things like “What does it mean if we’ve only been together for X amount of time and we are seeking therapy?”

Many people believe that couples therapy is a last ditch effort to “save” the relationship. We are here to tell you it doesn’t have to be this and we are firm believers that couples therapy can benefit any couple at any point in their relationship.

What we treat in Couples Therapy:

  • Conflict resolution

  • Communication difficulties

  • Navigating parenting styles

  • Lack of connection

  • Family issues

  • Infidelity

  • Attachment issues

  • Codependency

  • Pre-marital counseling

  • Dating

It is never too late or too early to seek couples therapy. Years of research has shown that couples wait an average of six years after they begin to have problems to seek therapy.

Whether you have just started dating and you are wanting to create a conscious, healthy relationship together or you’ve been together for decades and are hoping to break patterns and reconnect - its never too late or too early to create the relationship you dream of having.
